  • Yoon Ki Joung

    Yoon Ki Joung

In my undergraduate course of Ajou University in Korea, I specialized in Applied
Chemistry and Biotechnology at the same time and received scholarships from a foun-
dation in my junior and senior year due to my outstanding academic achievements.
I continued my study at the graduate school of my alma mater, receiving a teaching
and research assistantship under Prof. Ki Dong Park’s supervising. I took part in many
research projects that are related with biomaterials, drug delivery system, and tissue
    engineering etc.
  • After passing through graduate school, I entered to School of Materials Science, Japan Advanced Institute of Science
and Technology (JAIST) and performed doctoral course, supervised by Prof. Nobuhiko Yui. I majored Supramolecular
Chemistry, more specifically studied host-guest interactions, polymer inclusion complexes, chemical modification of
cyclodextrins, supramolecular network formations, etc. for the major doctoral theme, I studied stimuli-responsive
supramolecular assemblies based oncharacteristic inclusion between linear polymers and cyclodextrins for the purpose
    of application to artificial muscle.
  • In post-doctoral courses, I have studied on soft and nano matters based on biofunctional polymers including synthetic
and natural macromolecules, for example, temperature and enzyme-responsive hydrogels (injectable biomaterials),
heparin-based nanocarriers for intravenous deliveryr, and surface modifications for a variety of medical devices.
In KIST, I am interested in some studies on biomimetic modification of biomedical interfaces, stem/progenitor cells
capture and delivery, biodegradable polymers-based devices and composites, and printable, cell-adhesive biomaterials.
